An Experienced Surgical Team that Provides Safety and Peace of Mind
The surgical team at Animal Hospital of West Woodstock performs a wide-range of surgical procedures.
Our skilled and caring vets perform pre-surgical labs and pre-anesthetic exams to ensure that your pet is healthy enough for surgery and tailor the anesthetic protocol based on the unique needs of your pet.
If your pet needs surgery, we will keep you informed throughout every stage of the process. We want you to feel confident that our team will do everything possible to ensure your four-legged friend is well cared for before, during, and after the surgery.
During surgery, we continuously monitor your pet. We utilize SurgiVet veterinary monitoring equipment to continuously assess your pet’s heart rate and rhythm via a constant ECG, maintain safe carbon dioxide and oxygen levels with capnography and pulse oximetry, monitor blood pressure to ensure internal organ safety, provide temperature control and warming methods and administer IV fluids to promote hydration and maintain a healthy blood pressure.
After surgery, the recovery process is critically monitored to ensure pets are warm, clean, comfortable, and receiving appropriate pain management.

Soft Tissue Surgery
We can perform many different types of soft tissue surgeries, including but not limited to: tumor removals, stomach and intestinal surgery (gastrotomy, enterotomy, resection and anastomosis), bladder surgery (cystotomy), ophthalmic surgery including eye-lid procedures, cherry-eye procedures and eye-removal procedures (enucleation), ear procedures such as deep therapeutic flushing and aural hematoma repairs, laceration repairs and wound management, and vulvoplasty (recessed vulva repair).
Orthopedic Surgery
Certain procedures are done by our vets on staff including toe, tail or limb amputation.
For complex orthopedic procedures we bring in a board-certified surgeon to repair those issues in our hospital as out-patient procedures saving you time and money by not having to drive to a specialty clinic out of town. These procedures include: TPLO (repair for a torn ACL), patella luxation repair, complex fracture (broken bone) repair, and FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) for hip luxations and severe arthritis.
Other orthopedic and soft-tissue procedures may be done by our boarded surgeon on a case-by-case basis. By utilizing the skills of a boarded surgeon, you can feel confident in the procedure and enjoy the best outcomes possible.
